Personal responsibility. Hmmm. Who wants to admit that they are not the shining star of personal responsibility? Not me. That would be admitting that I; make mistakes (a lot), have made selfish decisions that hurt others, blame, manipulate, or might have to change. No way buddy.
So many of us claim that we take responsibility all the time and can even name a time when we did. At least one time. However, how often have you allowed yourself to count up the number of times the word “you” came out of your mouth way before the word “I”. And that doesn’t mean “I did that because you made me angry”. That means, how quickly does your finger raise up (literally or figuratively) to zero in towards someone who is not you?
Listen, we are all guilty of summoning the power of “it’s not my fault”. And maybe there are times that the fault line is some distance from you. I would guess that a majority of the time You finds its way out of your mouth way before you realize what is happening. Careful with that pointer finger. How does the saying go, “When you point the one finger at someone, there are 3 pointing back at you”. So true.
